My son's house has a small porch with a pitched roof over the front door. In the spring a builder replaced the leading between the house wall and the roof of the porch .Last week a lot of the leading came away from the wall and is now hanging on the porch roof. Clearly it is a damp issue when it rains and it could also easily slide off the roof and fall on someone or something.
I contacted the builder last Wednesday who promised to repair it on Friday. He did not come or contact me or my son. Over the bank holiday weekend I have tried to phone but the phone will not even accept messages. I have also sent an e mail.
What should we do now? Can we get another builder to do the work which is quite urgent, especially as the lead could do damage if it falls off? The house is insured but it has a £200 excess and surely the builder should repair it after such a short time in place.

Get up on ladder and remove loose lead before it discomknockerates someone. Whilst up there spread some protection (tarp or something) over the area to stop water ingress.
Email is a waste of time and so is phoning him. Recorded delivery letter to say fix it by x please under your guarantee for the work or seeing as tomorrow is bank holiday pay him a visit if you know where he lives. Suggest to him that Trading Standards might be interested if he doesn't cooperate. However, he may have a good reason not to have contacted you on Friday or since - like he fell off a ladder and is in hospital - so you should give him a chance before geting someone else in or using your insurance.
