Getting Canadian Tax Back!

Hi All,
I am leaving for Canada this weekend and plan to do a lot of shopping. I noticed that some people mentioned that they could get the tax back. My questions are:
1) How do you do this ( do you just keep your receipts and show at airport
2) Who is eligible
3) is it for the GST and PST?
Thanks so much!

Hi.
I did claim back GST when I was in Canada last year.
What I did was kept all my receipts. When I got to the airport before check in went to the GST refund counter. There I filled in some forms providing details of my spend, etc. I provided my credit card number (money was to be paid back to my credit card). The lady took all my receipts and the filled out signed form. About two months later I had my GST refund in my credit card (minus their service charge).
As for eligibility, its anyone who isn't a national of NAFTA as far as I can see!!
However, remember you are liable for VAT and customs duty on any spending over £145 when you come back into the UK."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
Does anyone know if this is still possible? I was in Canada for two weeks last month and kept all my receipts but couldn't see anywhere to refund them in the airport. Is it too late now?

I just did a bit of googling and it seems they have stopped this now. Can anyone confirm?

I wasn't aware this had been stopped but I've had a Google as well and it seems it has!

There's apparently still some sort of rebate scheme for accommodation as part of a tour package... not very useful for independent travellers...
That's a pity, I've claimed several times in the past

I went there June last year and when I went to claim the tax back at the airport, they had a sign up saying that they stopped the programme 2 months before (April 2007) .... so basically, you can't!!If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0
