Renovation Projects

Hello,
I'm going to be moving house in the next couple of months and I am quite interested in getting into renovating old furniture to make chic 'new' pieces for my new home. I've never done anything like this before so I am looking for some ideas on where to start. I am quite crafty, I make jewellery, made my own wedding invitations and am very handy in doing quick fixes round the house (fixing the inside of the toilet with a bra strap was my best one!!!).
I'm looking to start on some small easy projects, maybe with small mirrors or frames and to work my way up to bigger things as I (hopefully) gain experience.
If anyone has done things like this before and would like to share some advice and/or a first project, I'd be very happy for the help.
Thanks
