Using webcam as barcode scanner

I have been investigating my options for using my webcam as a barcode scanner when listing on sites such as Amazon and Ebay.
I have tried a couple of programs, but neither are that good. 'Quickmark' will happily read the barcode, but not directly interface with Amazon or Ebay. BcWebcam won't even read the barcodes.
Anyone had any success doing this ?. If not, then I may look at getting a cheap USB Barcode scanner from ebay.

The idea was to speed-up the listing process. Some sites such as Amazon and Biblio will allow the direct scanning of barcodes into the site as part of the listing process.
If I can get a simple system set-up, I should be able to halve the time it takes to list stuff.Never Knowingly Understood.
