Anyone used Homeswapper or Plumblife

I've just signed up to Homeswapper in a desperate attempt to move out of the near sink estate I live in.
Has anyone used it at all with any success?
And do you think I would get away with this description for mine?
"Suitable for people with severe hearing disabilities. Smackheads, skanks and other lowlife will find themselves at home living on this road".
Joking apart, I can't imagine why anyone would want to move in. Noisy neighbours, dogs barking at all times of the night (owner out at the pub leaving dog tied up). Shouting slappers hanging outside of a night with their chav boyfriends. It is not a nice place at all.
Do I have to mention disputes and problem neighbours? To be honest, I wouldn't house a dog in what I live in at the moment and feel guilty into enticing someone to live here, but I've got to get out and can't afford private rent or a mortgage (not that I'd get one).

Vibrant lively area, near areas of local interest. Varied local population. Must be seen to be fully appreciated.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards. Thanks Silvercar but
1. Its not lively.
2. It's not near areas of local interest (unless you redefine interest)
3. the moment anyone sees it they'll run a mile.
What about Plumb life - anyone used them?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Never heard of Plumb life but I've been on homeswapper (and the preceding homeswap "things") for many years with no success. I have a limited couple of areas I can move to due to work and other (public transport due to non-drivers) travel commitments. I live in a quiet street with no antisocial behaviour, and the neighbours are good. Just too far out of civilization for most people's wants I think. Had a few people interested, but only those from rough areas which people who know those areas advise us to "stay the heck away from Dodge", or with a house that's far too small for us.
You may have some luck if you're VERY flexible about where you move to. And probably even more luck if you are able to downsize.
I think a lot of folks want a brand new house, beautifully decorated, at least 4 bedrooms, big garden, new kitchen and bathroom, toilets upstairs and down. If you can offer that and only want/need ANY 2 or 1 bedroom place, you should find a swap within a couple of days
good luck.
personally, I'm just saving as much as I can, and hope to get on the housing ladder in the next 5 years. I don't think I'll ever get a swap or a transfer (already been transferred once in the last 10 years - was moved out of a street that sounds very much like the one you live in now so I sympathise with you). I refuse to rent privately because 1. I can't afford to , and 2. I want to buy my own house, not buy someone else's for them.retirement savings target: £100,000 by 2032 start: £21200 Jun 22, Jun 23:0 -
Hi, I've used Homeswapper and it worked for me.
I lived in a grotty town, that I personally couldn't understand why anyone would want to live in, but I found people who did want to live there! I got a house in a lovely quiet village as a swap, as the family I swapped with didn't drive and wanted to be closer to amenities and their friends. So you never know until you give it a go! I didn't live on a big estate though, I was in a better part of the town.
I found in my local area that people would only swap to the 'sink estates' if they were getting a bigger house. Are you able to downsize as that may encourage someone to take on your area?
Are you near a corner shop, bus routes, good schools? Try and find some positive thing to get people interested.
Good luck, I have a feeling you might be trying to swap for a while, but something might come up in the end.Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -
I live in a 2 bed masionette - I can't really get much smaller!
My problem is that I'm having a lot of long ongoing neighbour issues (2 complaints on noise - 1 5yr and still ongoing and another ongoing for nearly 2 years - anti social behaviour (had neighbour arrested 3 times for verbal abuse) etc etc. My partners mental health is suffering (already has long term depression amongst other mental health problems but isn't counted as being disabled before anyone goes down that route) and my mental health is rapidly plummeting. as I've not had one night of uninterrupted sleep for at least three years.
I'm not too bothered about size - I want either a detached or semi detached with own garden and 2 bedrooms (off street parking a plus but not neccesary) - it being quiet with a garden is the most important thing because my partner needs peace and so do I as my nerves are shot to hell. there's no way I could cope in a terrace or a flat because of noise.
I know I'm limiting myself but don't have much choice in the matter reallyHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

What about Plumb life - anyone used them?
1. Sounds like the street is very lively - even if it is only people swearing and dog barking.
2. the pub?

I am on Homeswapper - Have been on it for 5 months now with no success
I have had a couple of people interested but one completely disappeared from the site even though she said she was definitely interested , so must have found a swap ... The other one we both too'd and fro'd re a viewing because we are both extremely busy & I had a couple of family crisis's to deal with which of course came first so when I tried chasing her up first she ignored me & then she got rude and said we MUST arrange a viewing soon in a very stroppy way even though she had disappeared as well! lol
I have a gorgeous , honestly , its a lovely property = 3 bedrooms , very quiet road in a nice area , lots of features as its a huge Victorian conversion with a garden , spiral staircase , 2 bathrooms etc etc AND I am DOWNSIZING to a 2 bed house but STILL NOTHING so am actually getting really disheartened now and it costs money to be on Homeswapper
I honestly did not think it would take me this long and I am not being too fussy with areas etc but won't consider a rough area myself as I have to feel content and happy there , but I do need to move as this place is actually way too big for me now the girls have left home plus I don't want to be above anyone either! lol
Anyway , if anyone knows anyone in South London with a pretty 2 bed period house ( My conversion is a pretty building ) and needs a large 3 bed property with lots of lovely features then let me know please! x
P.S I was also mucked about by FOUR different people who LIED on Homeswapper and said their CONVERSIONS were HOUSES when it is actually a flat in a converted house like mine and if I did really want a conversion I would stay put lol but I really do NOT see the need to lie and they just built my hopes up for nothing and wasted my time of course but ALOT of people lie on there!! ( Which HINDERS the process! )
I know someone who gave up a BRAND NEW 2 bed house to move into a flat on a not nice estate because she grew up there and missed her Mum etc who still lived there so she MOVED BACK to be with them all and I bet the swapper couldn't believe their luck lol but it DOES happen if they have family or friends there who they want to be with / live close to!!!0
