My own personal bug bear about HMV is that they label the Anime section as Manga. It's not manga it's anime, Manga are an anime distributor!

I agree with others about the layout, it really is bad, the aisles are not wide enough and it's hard to get past just one person.

Staff need to be more approachable and helpfull. I've never actually seen a 'helpdesk' point in HMV where people can go to ask questions without having to queue at the tills, so that could be something they think about changing.

I also don't really like the way they display items, but I'm not sure how that can be improved. I actually really hate the way they pile stock on the floor at sale time (usually boxes), this just gets in the way and makes the store look unprofessional and messy.

Mainly I think they really need a revamp of the DVD and game areas in the stores. Especially with the Blu-Ray and HD-DVD releases coming out soon, they need to find a way to draw attention to the fact that they do stock these releases (mainly HD-DVD as I don't want Blu-Ray to win the format war!).
