Hey all

I bank with the co operative bank.

I just went to an atm and went to check my balance before I withdraw, wheverytime I pressed check balance, or tried to withdraw cash it would hjust say 'your bank is unable to process this' or a similar erorr message, it would then spit my card back at me.

I know their online banking is down (if you go to their site) but I should still be able to withdraw?

Anyone else had any previous experience or knows if this has happened/should happen?

Will I be able to withdraw money in morning?

All he'llp is appreciated greatly, thanlks in advance.

Ps. I find it odd how it gives my card back, surely if there was a problem it would retain the card??

If there was a problem with your account they may retain the card.

If there's a problem with their systems they won't want to retain everybody's card.

I'd suggest trying again this morning - perhaps testing online banking or ringing the call centre first.

If their connection with the link system is down, there's no way of getting authorisation for the transaction. You either have to wait for it to be cleared or visit a branch. This happened to me a few years back, they have no back-up procedures in place. Always have a little cash in another bank.

As the previous poster said they'll only retain your card if there's a problem with your account.

I had a similar problem with santander cards this morning (3am) but it seemed to have been fixed at 7am. Sounds like the LINK network was experiencing some downtime

OP, was it a Co-op ATM (in which case the issue would have been with their systems) or another bank (in which case it could be any of Co-op, the other bank or Link's systems)?
