Barcelona off the tourist trail ?

My dad is going to Barcelona in a couple of weeks and although he's been before he'd like to see if there are any things worth seeing or visiting on the outskirts of Barcelona or off the tourist trail.
He doesnt mind travelling by train or coach .

Any suggestions or recomendations would be grateful thanks

The monastry at Monsserat is worth a trip to as it is in the Mountains and they used to have a choir at lunch time

There's an excellent rail service which runs all the way along the Spanish Med coast - Sitges and Tarragona are two places which spring to mind. You can also do trips to the Torres vineyards.

Good suggestions

If your father is into wine he could visit both the Torres vineyard at Vilafranca del Penedes and the Freixenet (cava) winery at Sant Sadurni D'Anoia on the train from Sants - line R4

We enjoyed both of these but you need to check opening times - they close for lunch and siesta
