Pocket camcorder v regular camcorder

The reason I didn't choose the more well known Flip is that Cisco are about to stop (or have already stopped) producing and therefore supporting them.
I have also heard that they are stopping / have stopped producing these, however, I recently purchased an Mino HD 3rd Gen (8GB) which has a 2hr recording time for recording days out etc as it is small (about the same size as a standard mobile phone) and weighs about 100 - 150g (based on weighing it in mind hand).
It has a built-in flip USB stick that allows you to just plug it into your laptop / computer and can download in a short matter of time (I haven't yet filmed anything for a great length of time, so cannot comment on how long 30 mins+ would take to transfer).
You can also (using the built-in software that comes with it) edit your footage to create movies using footage previously shot (so you can cut and edit to your hearts delight from various different videos).
You can also use the software to obtain stills from the footage ( I think the unit shoots 50 fps (frames per second), so you could get a still image that you never believed possible (unless of course you are a professional photographer (with lots of gear) / extremely lucky all the time).

"why is that frisbee getting bigger?"
...and then it hits me

Low cost, easy to use, small, good quality movies/stills, many hours of HD recording time etc. :cool:Marching On Together
I've upped my standards...so up yours!0 -
At the weekend i bought the Panasonic SD40 High Def camcorder and managed to find it in Tesco and Argos for £200 down from £300 and am very pleased with it. Get just short of 3 hrs recording from a full battery, after playing about with the recording settings I found I will very rarely record in full 1080 HD due to the amount of space it takes and not having enough memory on my laptop to edit or play, have a mac which will apparently do the job but not too happy about having to buy the software.
One thing to think about when having the SD card memory instead of the camcorder memory is that if ever the memory in the camcorder fails then you have no fall back but when a sd fails you can buy another. If buying one with a SD memory expect not to pay more than £10 for a 8GB card at class 4 or above.0 -

This is the thing sometimes which you don't find out till you buy the item...
You paid £200 for a HD camcorder, which you are only going to use for non HD use, in which case you could have saved the expense of buying a HD version and just bought a much cheaper normal def camcorder0
