Sellers - how do you keep on keeping on??!!

Options
I'm utterly exhausted by ebay this week - I've hit a sticky patch with npb x4, low dsrs x 2, request for a partial (which I gave into and now has resulted in the low dsrs I think) plus not many bidders so prices low. I'm just selling unwanted household bits and bobs, outgrown clothes etc - nothing fancy or valuable, and not a great amount. 6 -8 items per week.

How do all you determined and clever sellers keep on going? I've been selling periodically like this for 8 yrs, got 2000+ f/b, but nothing has been as hard as the last few weeks. Ebay seems to be a very unwelcoming place for sellers now - yes lots of free listing w/e's and free photos etc, but almost impossible hoops to jump through at times. How do you keep listing and posting no matter what?

Is there a secret I don't know about?!!! ;) CC xx

P.S. Read this back and wanted to add -Sorry! - I'm feeling a bit fed up atm. So much so the lovely f/b and message from 1 buyer this morning actually made me cry! I guess that makes up for the rude, non paying, dsr wrecking, money grabbing others that have blighted my week.) xx

like everything there are highs and lows and you just have to ride them. TBH I avoid the free listing weekends like the plague unless i'm looking to buy. Whilst it may be free it tends to attract everyone and their dog to get rid of their junk so ebay just becomes flooded, great for buyers but not always great for sellers.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

If it's getting to you that much and you're just getting rid of outgrown clothes etc and household stuff why not try a car boot? At least that way you'll get rid of everything in one go and dont have to worry about packaging, post, dsr's b1tchy feeback etc
  • Yes we do a couple of car boots now and then - last one had a man climb in my car next to my baby whilst I was setting up and nick a box of dvd's!

I find people want to pay very little for something lovely at a car boot so they can sell it on themselves. So I keep the lovely bits for ebay and the rest for car boots IYSWIM.

I had an expensive item nicked at a car boot earlier this year as well, went from right under my nose! I also had a rather nice Disney shop soft toy taken, given to the baby in a pushchair and the person walked off, I ran after her and asked for payment but she pretended not to understand me and started to flap her hands and wail about the baby so I just let it go.

    Very nasty people about.

Sometimes it is good to kick off your shoes and have a beer. It will all be there in the morning.
  • I agree. Have a beer, chill.

I have 2 negs on 2 accounts where I bent over backwards to accommodate the buyer. Why bother?

Both got full refunds before they negged me, both are total !!$!! They will get theirs. Karma and all that. Next poo will be a hedgehog etc.

Life is too short. What is important is your family and friends. Try not to stress. :)

Even if you refunded, buyers still have the right to find the transaction disappointing.

I had an INR, seller took a while to get back to me, the item never turned up, they didn't offer me a replacement at all, just gave me my money back.

I didn't leave them any feedback, because they did otherwise refund me and I didn't have to go to any dispute, but no way was that a positive transaction.

Similarly a buyer receiving a damaged item in the post may be annoyed that they had to get their money back then go elsewhere, never mind have to return the broken item to the seller.

If you mess up - that's your responsibility. Buyer in no way deserves a karmic backlash simply for being upset that something went wrong with their purchase.

I find it hard to understand how people can steal from car boot sales and charity shops. Lowest of the low!

People steal the charity collecting boxes from shops.
I live in Plymouth & some ba5tard stole plaques from the war memorials on Plymouth Hoe. Some were recovered when he tried selling them in a scrap yard.
I would have liked some of the serving men to have been around at the time he was removing them.

If I had messed up, I would have understood getting the neg. First buyer didn't like the color nail varnish and sent it back so I refunded. So she negs me. How could I have prevented that one?

The other one was item not received - I refunded immediately, and claimed from RM. I wasn't to know they would lose my parcel, I put it right as far as I was able by refunding all her money - what else could I have done as I didn't have another to send?
