    Is it internet ready?

    It's a monitor not a computer.
  • You could try advertising in FreeAds or similar (which ever one is free to advertise I forget the names). Our local evening paper offers free ads of 25 words or less at least one night a week. You'd probably reach a bigger audience than Freecycle.

There are other freecycle like sites such as

Its well worth trying on here, I always see a pile of monitors at the local tip and I know that they are a pain to dispose of - lots of nasty chemicals that don't break down. I agree that you stand a better chance if it is a 17" than a 15". You could also try charity shops - some do take electrical stuff. The British Heart Foundation do.

Many thanks for all the replies.

As a last ditch attempt I put it on Freecycle for the last time and lo and behold an immediate response. Once the lady had collected it, I had another request.

I'm pleased. The lady who collected it e-mailed me and said she was pleased - it was connected and working fine.

Since then I've seen a couple of Freecycle requests - so a bit like buses - nothing for ages and then 3 come along together!!!!!

I should point out that this WAS a 17" monitor, so it seems there are takers for that size.

    Thanks again all.

Thanks anyway! Sure to be useful for someone.
  • Think freecycle is fantastic and a great way to find a new home for items, it might take a few attempts to rehome a paticular item at times but worth sticking it out glad u managed to give it away.
