Well if he's "still paying his half of the mortgage" the longer it goes on, the more it's going to cost him.
All I would say is this; don't treat it as a battle that you have to win in order to prove some kind of moral principle. It's a business deal. You've offered £2,100, he's asked for £4,500. Somewhere between those two figures there's a deal to be done. Get the deal done, and move on with your life and make that "£15,000/£20,000 profit" that you're after.0
