Hitachi 1tb simpledrive not spinning up

The drive has always been abit funny not being recognised on certain pc's but now won't spin up when plugged into any PC. the blue light comes on the bottom of the HD but I can't feel any movement inside or hear any spinning up.

Any ideas on what to try? Failing these I guess its possible to remove the HD fromits case and put it into a PC to get the data back? Only problem with this plan is I have no idea how to remove the outer case as there are no obvious screws etc

i had a lacie one which recently started this, turned out the circuit board in the box was faulty, but i just did as you say, took the drive out the box (found a good guide to getting into it on youtube)

ok HD taken out of case and into PC, tried a few different slots, cables etc but the PC is not recognising it. I have had a look at the BIOS settings and nothing under there, im not sure if it is actually spinning up in the first place, is there any way to check this?

What would be the next step to get the data off from here?
