Last minute UK holiday

We are on holiday from work from 10th Sept - trying to find a cheap holiday in the UK.

For me, the wife and a 3yr old. Need ideas or suggestions.

I have been thinking of a boat on the Norfolk Broads, as I want something relaxing and ideally with a bit of fishing. Been looking at Haven / Hoseasons / Park Resorts, but they seem expensive considering the school holidays are over.

Any ideas or links welcome.

    hi

not sure what you are classing as expensive but i found these offers for haven for breaks starting on the 9th sept.. £150 for 3 nights is quite cheap for haven although i have seen £99 very ast minute deals before. Some Haven sites have fishing lakes - blue dolphin, thorpe park, primrose valley, golden sands on the East of the country....

    http://www.haven.com/offer/Special_Offers_Result.aspx?&offertype=483,484&holidaytype=SC&offerheading=September%20Breaks&offersubheading=from%20only%20%c2%a399%20for%20the%20whole%20family&linkname=HPC85

or there are some offers through break free holidays:

    http://www.breakfreeholidays.co.uk/dm-uk-autumn-holidays/holidays/

you need to enter the code word AUTUMN

Do you have any idea what part of the country you would like to go to?

I fell in a canal off a narrow boat when i was 5 and have been petrified of water ever since! Although it does mean i have made sure my kids learn to swim form a very early age! So i have no idea about canal boat holidays...

Cheap holiday - what about camping? September isn't too cold.

Camping is a no-no - cant be doing with the effort, plus if it rains, not feeling the sit in a wet tent vibe.

Budget is £500 or below really for the holiday.

I like the Haven etc sites, however, I want a week away, not 3 nights. I can't travel until 10th Sept as finishing work that morning off night shifts.

I don't want to spend £350 on a week at Haven, as when you add fuel, food, days out etc, it soon becomes a £700 break in a caravan. My plan was to book a last minute boat on the Broads for as little as possible.

I shall, however, look at the Haven again

    hi

i have just had an email from haven giving details of new special offers for september - there are some 7 days from £250...
    http://www.haven.com/offer/Special_Offers_Result.aspx?&offertype=484&holidaytype=SC&offerheading=September%20Midweek%20Breaks&offersubheading=from%20only%20%c2%a399%20for%20the%20whole%20family&linkname=SHO29

food does not have to be expensive - we take a frozen HM bolognaise or chilli which has defrosted by the second night, pizza's or HM french bread pizza's in the van another, a ready meal lasagne another night, lunch is sandwhich packed lunches for when out and about or beans on toast in the van....

food is as easy, cheap or expensive as you want it to be...I have never eaten at the onsite restaurants as eating out with my kids is not relaxing:o

So we eat in the van the same stuff as at home (with a few ready meals like lasagne thrown in to give me a break) and then head to the show bar for the kids shows. Kids are happy on the dancefloor and parents RELAX;) then back to the van by 9pm to put tired out kids to bed.

Days out if planned in advance don't have to be too expensive either.... plus at 3 your child can do quite a few of the free daytime activities / sports classes at haven / tennis / football / archery / fencing - plus swimming is free and keeps my 2 occupied for at least 3 hours a day when at Haven. Plus the beach - should be ok with fleece jumpers and wellies - building sandcastles for an hour or two.

If you go on the boat you still need food and days out - but i am sure you will find lots of suggestions on here for places for days out once you know the location - as i said i am not a boat person but what will your 3 year old do on the boat during the day when you are travelling? or is it just for sleeping on?

    Hope you find something

I am in the same boat as you, looking for a 4dayer from 12th-16th for me and my partner as I have week booked off and he might have it too. We may be able to use a private caravan if not booked but looking in case it isn't available as is quite short notice. Planning to book Tuesday or Wednesday when we know for sure he has the time off booked but have no idea where to begin. Am looking at all the big caravan websites for those in East Anglia but not finding much as I ideally want to spend less than £100! We found the perfect one in Norfolk for £99 but it went yesterday :'( Will travel agents be good to go talk to?
