Does any one know anything about a firm that appears to be based in Bournemouth and selling appliance breakdown insurance by cold calling?

I too received a call from them, very pushy so checked them out.
Found an advert on job centre plus for sales jobs, but the email address is for another company called the silly group (thesillygroup.com).
Checked that site to find it went to satellite repair services website. They were also known as sky repair services. Lots of bad reports on these companies.0 -
I've been insured with them for 5 month's now and my t.v broke 3 weeks ago and they where brilliant! It was not able to be repaired and i had a new t.v with me in 2 days...How can you be weary if there assertive? That's what a sales person does!
Highly recommended them to anyone!

I have had satellite insurance through satellite repair servcies (now Home Appliance Guard) for over a year and am currently experiencing severe problems with them. They replace the faulty equipment with refurbished equipment not new unless you choose to pay for the new Platinum service. I had to call them out in early September as my HD box became faulty to date they have tried a further 6 boxes and I still do not have a fully functioning system. The HD boxes they are sending out are faulty (one actually lasted about 6 weeks), at the moment the engineer has been here 3 times in last 5 days trying to find a box that works, and is due back again tomorrow. In the meantime we can watch television on the main TV but not on the other TVs and cannot use the system effectively ie record programmes etc as the box is being replaced a few days later. I have complained to the supervisor (Kye) via the telephone number provided who insisted they were providing the service that I was paying for by sending an engineer and by the fact he was leaving me with a HD Box - he wasn't the slightest bit interested in the fact the box I was being left with was also faulty and thought that his compnay were providing a good service!!!!! and could do nothing more for me!
Not the kind of service I'd expect that's for sure!0 -
Update to previous post - they have now resolved the issue and have been most attentive over the past 24 hours. Engineer brought new HD Box last night which appears to be working well without any problems. Hence they can provide good service when they want too. Shame the resolution was only initiated by my complaints but give them credit, they put it right.0

I'm currently with Home Appliance Guard for my Washing machine on the recommendation of the guy who fixed it on a callout to the manufacturer!
Haven't had to use them yet, but received a cold call from 'chillywarrantyshop.com' offering a much better deal.
Anybody got any info? Good or bad, would be nice to know.0 -

I had a cold call from them today (Home Appliance Guard) - very convincing! However, checked my present insurance (Domestic & General) with whom I have been more than 20 years, have ALWAYS been satisfied, and found they are "similar" but Domestic & General are authentic, guaranteed and been in business for a long time. There are some anomalies in the home Appliance Guard which are VERY questionable and they keep changing their name and office address!. Decided, that D&G are more trustworthy, cost nominally more, but are DEFINITELY worth the assurance of a tried and trusted company. :beer:0 -
Another one poster.
[Is someone protecting their identity in a rant more believable? Possibly more sensible to call the manager "Fred" if you need to add verisimilitude to your narrative, on the assumption that there is not a real Fred working as a manager and so cannot accuse you of libel, or more to the point get this thread taken down].
These days when someone cold calls me, in spite of my telephone preference registration I get them off script for a bit and then suggest that it is not every day I have such an interesting chat with a criminal.
I have even had long chats about the criminality of cold calling and flouting the regulator and the data protection regulations.
Silly really, I've probably been sold on in lots of "sucker" lists0 -
I had a cold call, didn't find them pushy. I took out insurance last year on my cooker, two months later the oven stopped working. I claimed, they sent someone within 2 days and it was repaired on the spot. That was about 10 months ago.
I am currently claiming for my dishwasher. I had to wait 2 weeks for an engineer to come, but that was down to my work schedule. The man from Bosh said yesterday it's beyond repair so am waiting to hear if they will replace it. I only took the insurance out a couple of months ago so I am wondering if they will say it was an existing fault which would not be covered. I will update this when I find out.0 -
Amazing bad luck, especially with the dishwasher.
What model and serial number was it ?
What was the problem ?
Presumably it was relatively new and not one subject to a recall for a new control unit? [Fire hazard]0
