I've read through a few threads but am still a little worried...I'm hoping someone can advise me NOT to pay this but if not I probably will
Got a Parking charge notice under my windscreen today while i was in the sorting office. I had parked on double yellows, displaying my blue badge and the clock. By the time i got back to my car (approx 10 minutes) i had a ticket.
I found the ticket man in his hi viz jacket and explained i had not seen the sign (i saw A sign when i looked UP towards the top of the building after i'd got the ticket but it was too far up to read what it says) and he said it is clearly sign posted that it is a private road and i cannot park there.
The bit of paper says i am to pay £120 by 17th Sept or £80 if i pay before 10th Sept.
I'm devasted. Just finally got blue badges and first time i use them i get a whacking great ticket. Please someone tell me i'm being ripped off and not to pay, otherwise that was a really expensive trip to pick up a signed for letter

Do not worry about it, bin it and ignore future letters. That simple...0

Very easy to ignore this one. If the sign is NO PARKING ..then you may have trespassed but you certainly have not entered into any sort of contract which they can enforce.
This private company has no more right to fine you for trespass than I have to fine you £120 for walking across my front lawn after I put up a sign saying "keep off the grass".
Furthermore as the double yellow line has no basis in law on private land you could easily make a case that just by being there this mislead you into thinking this was a public highway..particularly as the yellow line is so much more obvious than any sign.
Do not worry about ANY letters you get that will threaten you with all sorts of inflated extra charges and a court case ..this company can't take this to court ..they do not have any sort of case whatsoever.
If the idiots who own this piece of land really wanted to restrict parking they would get some sort of physical barrier.
PS Euro Car Parks openly admitted to a national broadsheet newspaper (The Times I think) that they have never taken anyone to court and have no intention of doing so in the future ....probably because they know that they would lose ! ;-)0 -
euro car parks are well-known on this board and don't do court.
take the earlier advice: ignore.
and yes, you are being ripped off (or you will be if you're mug enough to pay).0 -
Thanks everyone. I will happily file is away with the other junk and I will not be paying it.Last bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0
