ok. 7ish years ago i took a loan out with lloyds (i worked full time-5 thou) but i told them i was 10wks pregnant at the time. my friend (who was a hsbc manager) says i can claim back the ppi as i should'nt have had a loan (struggled on maternity money to pay it). i am useless with numbers as you can guess!. now i am going to see my account advisor and he has been checking my credit rating as i have a 'bit' on my credit card and he thinks a loan will pay it off (i assume i am eligable (sp?) now. i am on low income now and lower again during the school hols. altho the account man says i deffo know how to spread my money about and juggle it! ha. any advice welcome. and congrats if you understand all that as sometimes i confuse myself!X:eek:

I am guessing the HSBC manager is pretty useless as well. They are unlikely to know what another bank's lending criteria are now, let alone seven years ago as it is probably commercially sensitive data.
They also seem totally unaware that discriminating against a woman solely on the basis that she is pregnant was was unlawful by then.
However, if this person is a "manager" at a bank, I would be wary of relying on the expertise of a mere "account adviser" at a bank and would suggest the Citizens' Advice Bureau is likely to be more helpful.
As far as the PPI is concerned, being pregnant will not make it unsuitable although it clearly will not pay out on pregnancy because pregancy is not an illness and, unless you are a whale or something, the it will not last more than a matter of months.
There may be other reasons why it was missold, such as a single premium that was added to the loan, but not the mere fact that you were pregnant.0
