Hi,
just wondering if anyone has replaced the hard drive on a Daewoo DH6100P, dvd recorder.
I bought it second hand on ebay about 8 months ago, bit of a hum from the fan, but recently there is more of a groan from it and I suspect the hard drive. If I switch it off and back on after a while it is ok, for a while.
Is it just a swap over, or more complicated, read on another site that I would need some kinda code for it to recognise the new hard drive.
Would I be able to replace it with this?

Don't know that specific model, but I'd open it up, check whether the drive is IDE (the old, wide ribbon cable connector) or SATA, and buy one that matches.
Then temporarily connect both to a desktop PC and clone the old onto the new with one of the free utilities like Clonezilla. Then use something like GPARTED to "grow" the resulting partition if the new drive is bigger than the old one.0 -
Hi,
thanks for the reply, not been into the guts, yet, but found the hdd info on another forum, seemingly it's a
Maxtor Quickview 80GB PATA HDD (Model: 6L080P0)
so would replace it with the same.0 -
looking at the prices of IDE hdd at the moment, I would get a bigger drive, http://www.ebuyer.com/search?page=1&store=33&cat=392&filtersubcat=3264
different of £8 and twice the size in storage. looks as though IDE is dying format, everywhere is selling SATA a lot cheaper.0
