How to fix a hole that has become too big to secure curtain rail

You can No More Nails in a "squeezy" tube rather than using a gun. But I think its expensive and overrated. You are paying more for the name than anything else. If you can't borrow a gun then something like that is probably your best bet. Any "grab adhesive" in such a tube will suit you.

You can get filler that goes off quite quickly so you can re plug. I dont advise using the epoxy putty as I tried to earlier this year and the it set rock hard the screw broke in the hole0

And when you're putting the wallplug in make sure it's dead level (didn't get my living room one quite right and it's annoying)0

From your suggestions, I realised all I needed was just stuff called adhesive or filler. So I ended up just popping down to a pound store and got a squeezy tube adhesive. It took awhile to set but now the curtain pole is holding stronger than ever. Thanks guys0

What you need is wetnfix
http://www.wickes.co.uk/invt/511151
Used these to install a new solid oak hand rail on our stairs, we have a 1930's house, when ever you drill a hole it ends up a lot bigger than you want lol, you just wet the discs then wrap them round the raw plug, insert in the hole and wait for them to dry, says they take 3mins but I used to leave them a bit longer.
6 months later and the hand rail is still solid, would highly recommend them
You can also get them from screwfix but it's only packs of 50 they use £11.29 http://www.screwfix.com/p/fischer-wet-n-fix-pack-of-50/77888?_requestid=1001420, wicks are £3.47 for 200 -
