Someone tried to steal my car now I'm worried

OK, I am back from the police station and the CCTV footage was viewed.
1) Nothing is going to happen to me as I acted appropriately under the circumstances
2) The cheek sod did break into my car, he did something to it earlier in the evening, it was when I took my shopping out of the boot and left the car open, you can clearly see him open the door and do something.
3) I did speak to him when I came out of the house (I didn't remember at the time but he asked me for a light)
4) You could see him unlock the car and put something in it and start rolling. (We believe it was the hammer that was found in there)
5) The images back up what myself and neighbours were trying to tell the police and shows him for the liar he is.
6) The police went into my car and took something out that looked like a little black square I'm not sure what it was or how they knew it was in there as I never saw it.
They already had him in custody on other charges I don't know what they are, but the police told me that they are in no doubt that if I would have approached him he would have used the hammer on me.
Once again they advised me to put the steering lock on in future. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
Interestingly, I notice that a few of both 3v3 and lotus eaters posts have been deleted. It must have been by admin as quotes have also dissapeared as well! The opposite of what you know...is also true0

Now I'm confused - I thought the whole point is that you did approach him?I want my sun-drenched, wind-swept Ingrid Bergman kiss, Not in the next life, I want it in this, I want it in this
Use your imagination, or you can borrow mine!0 -

They mean if I approached him with eye contact (if he had seen me). It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -

I did write a post around lunchtime today responding to 3v3's antics on this thread, generally, and also advising the OP to get some legal advice but that post seems to have gone now.
Anyway thanks for the update Yvonne13. Hopefully you won't get any more trouble from the guy. The Police seem to know him, as you say.0 -
