InsureTheBox car insurance

Hello Everyone

My insurance is due for renewal and I am checking all the comparison websites. None accept Insurethebox has beaten my renewal price. Also it has not beaten by few pounds but its nearly half price.

Does anyone have any experience with them? Why it is half price?

Thanks for help

have you actually looked at the policy and what it covers?
have you read the mileage restrictions?

I did look at this page and I definitely do less than 6000 miles.

I am suspicious about this box thing and how reliable it is and if I can cause the car to breakdown.

Also if someone does have to make a claim than how good they are dealing with such cases and do not use delaying tactics.

why would you think a GPS tracker would cause a breakdown?
it wouldnt need much if any integration into the car

Not any particular reason. Just thinking installation of some foreign object in the car might cause some problem.

Does anyone else had any experience with insurethebox?

No, but I had the Trafficmaster telematics box fitted to my car a few years ago in conjunction with Norwich Union's Pay as you Drive concept, and it causes no problems. In fact I am very happy with the sat nav facility and safe speed warning it gives me.

We went with I-Kube but the van that came to fit the tracking box said Insurethebox on the side - so I presume they are all fitted by the same people.

We haven't had any problems with my sons car after it was fitted.

    Hi Guys,
Anyone else who experience in dealing with insurethebox directly. Any problem you faced.
    Thanks
  • My mum was insured with Insurethebox and there were no issues at all. They came and fitted the tracker without any issues and you could log onto the website and check where she had been driving and the average speed.

When it came to renewal time I found a cheaper policy with another insurer so she didn't renew. The tracker is still fitted to the car and has not caused any problems.

I have been on Insurethebox since January 2011.
They did come three times altogether to get the box working initially, but then so far so good.

Admiral's quote was very close, but I didn't want to go with Admiral.

One thing I was wondering about was the box draining the battery, which hasn't happened yet. It seems it knows when the ignition key is turned, but I don't know whether it gets permanent power.

Their procedure for car theft is rather the long way round. It seems that you have to report it, and get a crime number first. It feel like they have no intention of monitoring the car's position in real-time.

I've got some bonus miles, but it's unlikely I'll use them.
