Best antivirus program?

Options
Whats the best available, don't mind paying. Currently using avg free but a virus it detected, it can't fix and now my ie has a broken homepage as in I can't set my own home pae. The only thing I can do is putting the infected in the virus vault to avoid further problems but no fix. I do a lot of shopping/banking on the internet so this is quite worrying - thanks for any help in advance.

I swear by Avast. Its free but its one program i have that i would pay for .Does boot scan, you can have it scanning as a screen saver, scans when computer is idle. And always updates itself on time,
I found with Avg free version you get the updates way after the paid for versions.

Your browser has been hijacked - work thru this sticky about mal/spyware removal and do not do any shopping/banking till you are sure your system is clean.

    Rich people save then spend.
Poor people spend then save what's left.

Nod32 or Kaspersky if you're going to pay.

I use AVG now which is free. Did previously use the above, but mainly run Linux now so it just wasn't worth it.

  • Is it best to pay or is free just as good ?

I have been using Mcfee for the last year but now it needs updating.

NOD32 - hands down no contest - wouldn't consider anything else.
Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
    Do little and often
Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying
