bathroom leak into Kitchen

Hi,
We have a walk in shower instead of a bath, it was installed by the Council as my husband is disabled.
We have always had problems with little leaks but the plumber who installed it said it was my long hair clogging the drain and we needed to clear the drain more regularly!
6 months ago Niagra falls visited our kitchen and we called in a reputable firm to have a look (under the home insurance) as the shower was over 3 years old and no longer under Council 'warranty'. The Insurance would only cover repair but the guys had a good look and determined that the down pipe wasn't at the right angle so was building up water which eventually became 'Niagra'. They did what they could but they weren't authorised to pull up the floor and do a complete overhaul.
Anyway, we've had another leak this morning so the problem is obviously back. I think we are going to have to have the whole room ripped up and looked at but will the insurance pay for this?
Any help and advice appreciated.
Oh and now the electric sockets in the kitchen are crackling!!

In a word: No. Insurance companies pay out for the damage caused by a leak etc. They don't cover the cost fixing the actual leak. Some of them will cover the cost of any damage caused as a result of fixing the leak eg knocking holes in ceilings etc. However only a few will do this and the majority don't.
What you are really asking is for the insurance company to fix the poor workmanship that has caused all this. With the greatest of respect, you had every opportunity to get the leak fixed when it was still under warranty, but did not do so, so its hardly right that the insurance company (and ultimately other policy holders) should foot the bill for this.
It may ne easier to fix the leak by removing the kitchen ceiling, rather tahn taking up the bathroom floor.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
