Had a phone call from my sister last night, she wanted to know if I have paid more for something if I have paid cash ?. my sister had a sales person call she wants a new front door. They were talking about different payment options and he seemed keen for her to pay on a monthly budget plan, she told him she wants to pay cash, he said she would pay £85 more but if she were to pay in two payments she wouldn't pay the £85 pounds ? I just can't understand this.

Tell them to whistle for the £85. The reason that they want to charge more for cash is because they obviously get a rake off from the Finance Company when a purchaser takes out credit to pay for them. It's your money and there are plenty more companies supplying front doors. If they are prepared to lose an order for the sake of an extra £85 that is up to them.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I'm guessing it not the company that loses the order - it prolly comes out of the salesmans commish. Aren't some of these:

    This is common.

The company gets a kick-back from the finance company for the finance agreements it arranges. Then there is the added potential for missed/late payments, and other charges which can apply if the borrower breaks the agreement in any way. So its a lucrative arrangement

If this is how the firm does business before a sale, then I would be concerned in how it deals with any problems afterwards

Tell your sis to put her business elsewhere
