hallifax building/contents insurance

ive had this insurance for three years now and its time to find someone who supplyes the sort of cover that you pay for, ive been kept on the phone for over two hours today trying to get this company to assess water damage to my home ( oh this phonecall is chargable by the way at an extortionate rate ) to be told that because my parter asked about making a claim due to the brickwork falling onto the patio doors we had actually made a claim and we werent covered, they still put the premium up ? can they do this?
having never made a claim befor i must say im quite narked that this company looks for an easy way out for not wanting to take responsibility for any damage caused to my home, so im looking for a company that provides comprehensie cover without 40,000 clauses to get out the contract that they write out, any suggestions ?:(

If your house is maintained in such a way that the brickwork is falling down, it's not surprising that your premium has gone up.
