PPI claim- Pls help claimant now deceased

Hi
can anyone advise me regarding the following

my dad put in a claim against ppi charges and has been found successful, but sadly he has very recently passed away the letter advising it was successful and arrived the morning that he passed away , it requires his signature - can anyone advise me if his wife will still be entitled to the compo , and what should she do in order to pursue it, there was also a number of others he intended to do to as this was his first and was seeing if it went ok, can his wife follow these up on his behalf, the loans etc were in his name but payments came out of joint accounts,

also he has ppi on a credit card with a balance of approx £3k now who his wife be liable for the outstanding balance owed???, can she use the ppi to clear the balance but then make a claim as above????

thanks for any advice or help given in advance xxx

Sorry to hear your sad news but the redress is still payable. However, the firm will, quite reasonably, need to establish the circumstances and who the personal legal representatives are but it should be paid.

A PPI claim can be made if that is a claimable event under the policy and clear the loan. Whether a misselling complaint would succeed is another matter. It is generally less clear cut than for loans as the policy is never a single premium and the payment shows each month on the statement.

However, a credit card is normally the sole liability of the card holder, or the principal cardholder if there is an additional cardholder, so a widow would not normally be personally liable but the executors would need to repay the debt from the estate if it had sufficient assets to do so.
