New York and Mexico

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to plan a holiday for the beginning of October this year and we have decided we would like to do a 10 day all inclusive in Mexico followed by a few days in New York.

I'm just trying to work out the best way to book a trip like this - book flights and hotels separately, book a package holiday from the Uk to Mexico and then book alternative flights to take us from Mexico to New York then home etc etc. does anyone have any ideas?

thanks!

Where are you in the Uk?

Do you fancy near Cancun in Mexico?

Flying from either London or the midlands (I live in Essex and my friend in Birmingham). We were thinking of not actually staying in cancun but one of the resorts surrounding it, although if this really makes a difference to the cost we are not that bothered

BA and AA can do this

    09:50 Depart London (LGW)
Arrive Cancun (CUN) 14:05 Sat 1-Oct
    Duration: 10hr 15mn
    British Airways 2203
    Direct flight

    16:10 Depart Cancun (CUN)
Arrive New York (JFK) 21:05 Mon 10-Oct
    Duration: 3hr 55mn
    American Airlines 1674
    Direct flight

    21:55 Depart New York (JFK)
Arrive London (LHR) 09:35 +1 day Thu 13-Oct
    Duration: 6hr 40mn
    British Airways 114
    Direct flight

All direct flights and just book your hotels in Mexico and NYC

  • Thanks. So you think it is better to book flights and accommodation separately rather than trying to combine package holidays?

I would have thought so because if you book package holidays you are wasting two flights (Mex - UK and UK - NY) and having to buy extra flights from Mex - NY. I've never come across a package holiday that lets you have a one way flight. You might also have problems with the flight back from NY as they may cancel that leg if you don't take the outward one.

I did something similar when I went to Mexico, booked open jaw flights London - Mexico City and Miami - London and a separate flight from Cancun - Miami (with overland travel between Mexico City and Cancun).
