Toshiba Laptop problem

I bought a laptop in December 2009 for my son.
I have had to return it 9 times for the same fault. The last time I returned it in April 2011 they yet again repaired it although each time I asked for a replacement. they refused to replace the laptop each time and would only repair it. The screen goes dark so it cannot be seen but if shut down and restarted comes back on for a few minutes then goes dark again. The last time it was repaired they replaced the screen. This solved the problem and they said the repair was guaranteed for three months. Surprise surprise, Three months and three weeks later the fault is back again.
Does anyone know if I still have any claim to further repair without charge or will I have to pay.. If I have to pay I will probably not bother as it will certainly develop the same fault just after the warranty repair runs out.

If the repairs were not done by Toshiba, have you contacted them directly?
  • Toshiba did the repairs.
  • I have been in touch with comet who supplied me with the laptop and they say as my three month warranty period for the repairs I will now have to pay for the repair. Surely as the fault is reoccurring and has never been completely resolved which must be a design fault with the laptop, there must be some responsibility on their behalf for the repair. They refused every time I took the laptop back to replace it and subsequntly the problem has appeared again ten times now.
Any ideas what I can do if anything?
  • any suggestions??

Check the sticky threads (the FAQ and readme)

If you can prove the computer was inherently faulty than you can claim against the seller under the Sale of Goods Act.
