Lead bath tap pipes

Hi,

my problem isn't so much that the pipes to the bath taps appear to be lead, it's that the taps we're taking off have a thread length of 6mm and the new taps we're looking at all have a thread length of 5mm.

Was thinking that we'd just replace with a flexible connector pipe and remove the lead but when we unscrewed the lead connectors the fixing at the bottom was not the same size as the connector part.

Was there a standard size back in the 60s/70s when these connecting pipes were probably installed, where they connect to the main pipe?

If not are there any suitable cost effective alternatives?

Cut the lead back as far as is needed and using a suitably weighted Leadloc join lead to a length of copper and then use a modern tap connector to connect to your new taps.
