Nah, we never bothered, I figure a bit of pain focuses the mind into learning quicker. Seems to have worked with our 2.Am I the only one who never bothered with "baby proofing" my house?
We do have stair gates and a fire guard, but that's it. We did move all really sharp things from bottom draws also.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
No, beyond a stairgate, I never babyproofed our house. I taught them what they were and were not allowed to touch and we've never had a problem. I may have just been lucky though!0

Nope.
socket covers are lethal ! They are known to cause house fires as they create live circuits so increase the chance of the baby being electrocuted!!!

They learn to climb up.. I teach mine to get back down safely.. though the monkey has been brought out of the bathroom twice today and the toilet..
She knows not to chew cables and at she gets told off and moved for turning the xbox off and on.. we are very impressed with her fine motor skills though she does it very well.
if she is too pesky she goes in the playpen for a bit.. she loves it is there with a bunch of toys and usually a sibling or 2 and/or a cat.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
A stair gate on kitchen door is useful. I would say the most important thing is to keep anything that might be dangerous like cleaning products and medicines out of reach and make sure there aren't any small objects around where she could reach them, in case she puts them in her mouth and chokes.0

Same as this for all our 4. I taught ours to climb up and down stairs/couches etc etc as early as possible.
Thing is not every place you will go to is baby proofed so they have to learn how to be safe.
BTW I hate playpens-cages for kids yuck. But thats my pet hate lol.

We partly babyproofed for first DD, gate at the kitchen door, corners on tables etc etc and had a babydan thing that could be made into a playpen or room divider, this went in front of hubbies cherished plasma TV, but with DD no2 only had the baby gate at the kitchen and foam things to stop the door slamming, quickly came to realise with no2 that as already had a 3 year old running around with lots of toys with small bits, that we were on a losing battle and just had to have our wits about us.0

I didn't babyproof to any real extent either. Stairgate on kitchen door and stairgatre at bottom of the stairs. That was it. She's 4 now and she's survived ok!0
