How do I remove automatic withheld numbers?

Hello,

The phone network at my work automatically withholds the number when dialling out.

If I am trying to call someone with withheld number call barring I obviously can't get through.

I have googled and can only come up with a prefix of 1470 but that doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone know a way round this?

It depends on the internal phone system. On the Siemens Hiset system we have, we have to dial #92 and then the number we want to call.

Many PABXs have this facility but, as Hazzanet says, it depends on the make and model.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

That's the code to withhold the number. 1470 reveals it.

In this case, a PABX code may well exist but, depending on the size of the switch and/or the type of organisation, incoming only and outgoing only lines may be used to ensure dial-out capabilities are not blocked by a deluge of incoming calls. That means concealing the number of the outgoing line is essential (because the line is designated as outgoing only).
