Calling UK mobiles in France

I wanted to call a friend who's on holiday in France on her mobile.
I checked out the International Call Checker but the options there are for 'French Landline' and 'French Mobile', by which I understand a mobile with a French SIM card.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to make the cheapest one-off call to her from my Virgin landline? And would I need to just enter her mob. no. or would I need to prefix it with '44'?
Many thanks
Bertie

The cheapest way to call a UK mobile is usually from another mobile.
If it's a UK number you just call it as normal (07....); if she is in France she will pay roaming fees for the incoming call. You will nto be charged any extra.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Can anyone point me in the right direction to make the cheapest one-off call to her from my Virgin landline?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
You can never be charged for calling a UK number anywhere in the world, as you can't possibly know where that person is, so it would be unfair to charge you. As Owain said, she will be the one paying the extra cost of that call, you will pay exactly the same as if she was in the UK.0
