Ticket issued by police

Options
Hi all,

My query aint exactly a parking ticket, but I need some advice on a ticket which was issued to a friend of mine by police.

He was pulled up on Tower Bridge the other day by some officers on pedal bikes because his tyres were low, the gave him a ticket & £30 fine bacause his tyre was low and then he got 2 more tickets for not having booster seats for his 2 kids in the car who were straped in with just the seat belts (which he will pay).

He took his car to a tyre shop. They told him the air was leaking due to dust build up in the rims, and gave it to him in writing.

He has asked to to find out if there is any grounds to appeals the points that he has been awarded (is there any grounds).

I know this is for parking tickets, but I'm hopeing there is some on on here who may be able to offer some guidance.

Thanks all appreciated.

No, it is the driver's responsibility to check that the car is roadworthy before every journey.

And to ensure kids are in booster seats, absolutely no excuses, people who carry kids in cars without booster seats deserve all they get.

What did they give them for the tyre offence? If it was £30 and no points they got lucky. It could have been £60 and 3 points!

Of course you know there is never an excuse for carrying children in an improper manner!
  • Sounds to me like the Police have done the right thing for once.

  • Sounds like they gave you the wrong penalty for the tyre as it should be £60 and 3 points. I'd take this to the Pepipoo forum if I were you. Go here http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=5 and start a new thread. You will get accurate advice there without the moralising.

If he was given a Fixed Penalty Notice for the tyre, there is no appeal, he either accepts it or opts for a court summons.

If he did not produce his driving licence at the time, he is required to produce it at a police station within 7 days, he then has 21 (or 28?) days to decide if he wants to accept the FPN or not.

Neither would stand up in court.
