Claiming VAT back on lighting in new build?

I have a new build completing shortly, my developer is Taylor Wimpey.
I have their electrician laying first fix wiring for some second fix lighting in the form of downlights throughout the house.
I have 55 LED fittings to buy and was wondering as this is a new build if I'd be able to claim the VAT back on the lights? Am I in a position to be able to do this or have I mis-understood?
Thanks,
Ben

Taylor Wimpey could claim the VAT back, but you can't. There can only be one VAT reclaim per new build, and presumably TW are making full advantage of that.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

You can only recover the VAT if you are registered to pay VAT, which I imagine you aren't.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
