It's better to be an optimist who is sometimes wrong than a pessimist who is always right! ;)

in Hyde(greater Manchester) a pound bakery opened opposite Greggs and sold 2 sausage rolls for £1.. Greggs responded by selling 2 sausage rolls for 99p!!

a proper pasty/sausage roll war is going on there :D

I find Greggs very expensive for what you get, especially their sandwiches. Most of the baguettes are well over £2 now and going up all the time, yet they seem awfully tight with the fillings! Give me Subway any day.
    Product weight: 103g, Energy: 1470 KJ/360 kcal, Protein: 8.5g, Carbohydrate: 24g, Fat: 25g, Salt: 2.2g.

I notice Greggs are rather reluctant to give away their saturated fat contents! Fast food like this is fine as a treat, but it's quite scary that people will scoff a couple of these, a sandwich, donut and pasty or two all in one sitting!
  • Whilst you were on the subject of what was in Greggs Sausage rolls I thought I would add my story. I bought my daughter a steak bake from Greggs the other day, she bit into the top and then stopped eating to ask my husband and I what that is! Well to our horror it was a very large piece of something all I can describe it as was something that looked like penne pasta but a bit longer. It was truly disguisting as we realised this was a piece of animal artery!!! I grabbed the pasty and went into the shop where my husband in front of all the buying customers and staff kindly asked to speak to a manager and explained in front of everyone what we had discovered in the steak bake! The manager was extremely embarassed and sorry and explained she would inform Head Office straight away as it was totally unacceptable she took my details and gave me a refund, offered me anything else I wanted of course I refused!!! Head Office rang me about 1 hour after to say they are investigating with their team what it is I told them we had a picture and I told her exactly what it was, she told me they would be in touch in the next week or so. Needless to say I will NEVER go to Greggs again and I wanted to share this to make people aware of what goes into their food and steak bakes which apparently have only 'prime cuts of beef' I don't think so!

I stopped shopping in greggs about 6 years ago when the assistant sneezed into her gloves and still proceeded to put the sausage roll into a bag for my daughter!!!!

they're all over the place now. In Leigh there's one between Greenhalgh's and Subway with Greggs about 5 doors away,
The only problem with The Pound Bakery is it's far too cheap; £1 doesn't sound enough to fill you up so I end up buying too much because £2 sounds more like a meals worth.

so probably a piece of gristle that you risk getting in any meat based product.
