Car insurance - two drivers earning no claims on one car

Good morning all!
My wife past her driving test today (wooo!) and I just rang up my car insurer (KwikFit) to update the details on the policy (which only cost me £15 - I was expecting £100+!) and it got me thinking...
Is there a way that on one car both myself and my wife can earn a no-claims bonus?
I was thinking of alternating each of us as the main driver for each insurance renewal, but some insurers only accept your previous no-claims if you had insurance in the past year, so I'd run the risk of losing it (and I've got 9 years worth I don't want to lose).
I also thought about having two insurance policies on one car, but I don't think you can have two no-claims on one car, or something.
Anywho, that's why I'm here, any ideas?

No point (and expensive) having 2 policies!
You are better off keeping the policy in your name (as you have max NCD and your wife has nil).
But if she wants to build up her own NCD, then your plan would work (of alternating policy holders each year - or two - the majority of insurers accept two year old NCD.
You don't need to alternate "main driver". The policyholder does not need to be the main driver.0 -
When we had one car we used to alternate the policy holder each year as most companies accept NCD up to 2 years and some even accept 3 years.0
