PPI Compaint / Violation Of Data Protection Act

I complained early June to HBOS about a PPI Mortgage Claim in my & my partners name, this is a joint mortgage. I also complained about a credit card which was in my name only. Halifax/HBOS/Lloyds *anking group sent a joint acknowlegement letter for both the mortgage and the credit card addressed to me and my partner.

I beleive in doing this they have broke the data protection act. I complained to HBOS and they have done nothing. The irony is a few days after I complained they exteneded their 8 week dealine to 16 weeks to deal with the complaint and so far that is the only letter I have had back.

I have rang and contacted them and been passed from pillar to post and department to department.

Why do HBOS think it is acceptable to break the data protection act and cause a great deal of grief for many people? Do banking employees actually check letters which they send out? HBOS broke banking confidentiality when they sent this letter out and they have not even bothered to acknowlege my complaint or apologise.

DO NOT USE HALIFAX, HBOS, LLOYDS *ANKING GROUP.

  • I have received what looks like the same letter for my PPI claim for the credit card & mortgage. They have offered all I paid in plus simple interest as they put it at 8%.

    When I asked about not having a reply for them breaking the data protection act they just told me over the phone that no serious information was passed on, only a credit card number!

    I am still waiting for a written apology.
