Seeking Claims experiences

Hi all,

so I've been following Martin's recommendations too and decided to bite the bullet and move through confused.com. I got some quotes. But the quote says nothing of the quality of service. I'm looking for a 'quality of service rating' -- summary (stars) and comments. The closest I've found is http://www.reviewcentre.com/products298.html for home and contents -- do others have any experiences they could share? For instance, confused.com offered Legal & General and Groupama as the cheapest, but then you look on ciao and other sites, and they get trashed, with appalling, appalling service.

So I'd add to Martin's tips -- DON'T just go with the cheapest. Do a subsequent investigation into peoples' claims experience.

If you do that, although Zurich is very expensive, there have been a couple of people recently who have given them a good rating:

What to do???

Insurance is the oddity of a product we buy hoping never to need to use it

As well as looking at the claims experiences you also need to look at the cover given... many insurers only give you £100 of personal possessions cover so if you have a 10 disc CD multichanger you are most likely not even covered for the cost of replacing the CDs if they are stolen let alone anything else taken from the car... if you dont have a multichanger then this probably isnt an issue. Likewise not all policies allow you to drive other peoples cars any more which may or may not be an issue for you.

As I work in the industry it wouldnt be correct for me to give an opinion on claims handling abilities of companies
