I have had a few issues with scam companies so I am just concerned.0

That sounds like you've been invited for training/a trial period/next step in the recruitment process, not like a proper job offer at all.
Why would you give up a decent job for this?Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
I haven't given up my job but if I were to be given this job I would. I currently work as a bookie and I am not happy doing so because its a pretty dangerous profession.
I know its a recruitment day but I don't want to be going along to scam. I just want to know if it is or isn't a scam. I have come under the radars of a few scam companies but they were pretty easy to suss them out looking online. I find nothing bad about this company but I am quite Sceptical0 -

I haven't read the posts 'dragged up' by moomincat, that’s because I come here looking for advice or to offer advice.
So I base my concern from what I have read here.
I confess as to never reading the rules on promotion, and I also agree that this sort of fund raising is tasteless, as I have stated before......but remember this, people like myself who contribute rarely will happen upon your posts occasionally and perceive them as bullying....
What I'm trying to say, rather poorly...is, as you are a seasoned member I would prefer to ask and receive advice from you and respect it, rather than ask a question a run the risk of sarcastic banter!0 -
i have literally just had an interview ( 2 days ago ) . And got accepted, I have read all your comments and such. I am very very skeptical. I start work on the 6th of Feb. I was hoping it was what I thought it was but these comments and reviews have made me nervous about it. I will give it a week and questions will arise from me. Hmm maybe I made the wrong choice .0

How long were you working there for? What exactly did you not like about it. As i've just joined (the company) i need to know all I can to make the right/best decision.0

Statement posted on behalf of Magnum Direct
I write, on behalf of the company, to address comments made and points raised in the various posts on this site, particularly in respect to our recruitment process.
Firstly, as a background, Magnum Direct Limited is an established, reputable direct sales company working with both the private sector and non profit sector to assist companies and organisations to grow their income and customer base through the provision of direct sales solutions. Our specialist area is face to face selling.
We have gained high level recognition for the work that we do in the charity sector through industry awards and we are a Corporate Member of the Institute of Fundraising. Our work in the private sector has included representing the largest supermarket operator in the UK as well as many of the UK's largest and most well known consumer telecommunications companies.
Magnum Direct Limited is not part of a larger organisation. We are an independent, private company with a positive trading history and credit rating. We contract with our clients directly, representing not only blue chip organisations but also regional not for profit organisations that serve their local communities. In essence, we are a transactional specialist, connecting buyers and sellers through the face to face selling channel. Over the years we have assisted many organisations to improve their income and help create growth and we aim to practise and deliver quality, reputable selling within the wider sales industry.
We have many applicants for roles with our company. Some of those applicants fit in to the category of limited sales experience or no experience in selling at all. Where an applicant does not bring experience with them we recognise and appreciate that other factors can contribute to them becoming successful sales people. Such factors include attitude, motivation, aspiration, willingness to learn and desire to work hard to progress their careers. Where someone is able to demonstrate these qualities we are prepared to consider giving them an opportunity to join our company and learn how to sell.
Our recruitment process has several phases to it in order to screen and qualify the right people for our company. The first stage involves a telephone screening process. If passed, a candidate will be invited through to the next stage. Candidates will need to attend what we call and Induction and Training Day. This day is intended to be an information sharing day both by the candidates and the company.
This gives candidates a comprehensive insight in to Magnum, its values, company culture and the campaigns that it is recruiting sales people for. During this day Magnum will also train basic sales theorem and methodology so as to prepare candidates for potentially joining the company. Candidates are welcome to leave at any stage if they do not believe that the sales role is right for them or if they do not wish to work for the company. The company also utilises this day as an assessment so that people that have attributes suitable for our company are indentified. During this day one to ones take place between the company and candidate and suitability on both sides is explored further.
It is during this stage of the recruitment process that candidates are invited to indicate their intention to apply for a role with Magnum. Where a candidate applies for a role, Magnum has evaluated them and will either proceed with an offer or not. Where an application and offer are matched, the company will then take steps to introduce that person to the company and the next stage of the training process which is field based.
The objectives and purposes of the Induction and Training Day are twinned. Elements of the first stage of sales training are incorporated so as to make the process more efficient for those who end up successfully joining the company. Induction happens for the same reason. However these elements are twinned with observation by both sides, assessment and until the latter stage, no commitment required from either party to the process, removing expectation, pressure and any sense of obligation mutually.0 -
I know Magnum very well because I was lucky enough to be able to work for them.As to one of the question mentioned . Yes you can earn but you have to be very very good with your communication skills because you are giving a message to the public what the charity needs are. What they do.What the public can do to help.Magnum are made of good individuals who all work hard. The fundraisers extremely because they go out in the rain, sleet or snow. You have to be dedicated and expect to get wet, cold or hot in the summer.Thats the kind of people Magnum look for!If you seem indecisive they will pick up on it.You have to be 110% determined to get out and work.0

Why are the people saying that Magnum are great people with only one post on the forum, that just joined the day of the thread. I was hoping for reassurance, but reading a thread about Magnum where people turn up just for one post makes me even more sceptical. No debts. No credit cards. No store cards. No mortgage. No CCJs. High credit rating intact. Living frugally. Want to start business soon. Trying to keep head above water; while standing on own feet; staying within the law; and not falling into debt. Looking to raise income, who isn't?0

Is there anyone with more than one post to the forum that has worked for Magnum, or started with Magnum? No debts. No credit cards. No store cards. No mortgage. No CCJs. High credit rating intact. Living frugally. Want to start business soon. Trying to keep head above water; while standing on own feet; staying within the law; and not falling into debt. Looking to raise income, who isn't?0
