We're having two - first one was immediately after the wedding in a cottage in Pembrokeshire, we leave on the second next Thursday to Portugal.

I think that if you want to go to Wales, then go to Wales! It's your honeymoon & you know what you like! Wherever you will be happy is where you should go!

We have booked 2 nights in the Ash suite at the hotel we are having our reception in, & have booked a week in Madeira during the week following the wedding. It's perfect for us, we want some nice weather, good food, nice wine & I want to see a dolphin in it's natural surroundings! It has all this and a bit of culture too! It's only 4 hours flight away too! I can't wait!

Wherever you choose, I'm sure you will have a lovely time x

We are taking the opportunity to have the holiday of a lifetime that we have always dreamed of and are going to the USA. We'll be starting off in Vegas and seeing Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam on the way to San Fran, then Washington and Philly then on to New York from where we will fly home. Cannot wait!

Cottage doesn't sound boring, it sounds lovely and if that's what you both want then why not?! Have you thought about a cabin with a hot tub in the woods perhaps? Secluded, romantic and great fun :)

Where are people going on their honeymoons?

Does it sound boring that I'd like to go somewhere on the coast of Wales, like a little cottage or something?

Long, romantic, windswept walks along the beach or over the hills, no matter the weather. Finishing at a cosy pub for dinner and drinks. Sounds good to me!

If that's what you like then you go for it. If you want to bling it up a bit, as it's your honeymoon, you could try to find somewhere with a hot tub in the garden (edit: as others have already suggested, sorry) or a butler service or personal chef that you could use occasionally, or something a little bit different to make it special.

    These all sound lovely :)

If anyone is interested I wrote a trip report of my honeymoon (including a few wedding venue photos) over on a travel report website - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trip-reports/1231214-our-honeymoon-lhr-yyz-ba-f-fairmont-royal-york-thefalls-boathouse-photos.html which includes loads of photos :)

Brief summary; First class flights with BA to Toronto from London. A week in Fairmont Royal York. A day and a half in Niagara Falls and surrounding area. Finally, a week in a remote boathouse on the shore of a lake in northern Ontario. A perfect combination of city fun followed by a relaxing week :)

  • Not boring at all, you go where you want!

One of my sisters went to Cuba for her honeymoon - they had three days in Havana and then a week at a beach resort - and the other went to a French ski resort for a week, although they didn't really do much skiing but just chilled out and went to nice restaurants etc.

  • We hired a cottage in Devon for a week as our DD was only 6months old, and it was fab, it had it's own private hot tub, was in the countryside, but only 10mins drive to nearest biggish town, had an Indian restaurant that delivered and a local lady who provided home cooked meals.

And there was home made cake waiting for us when we arrived, and fresh free range eggs, milk and clotted cream from the local farm waiting in our fridge mmm

It was lush, and v relaxing and perfect for a honeymoon
