I think a cottage in wales sounds lovely. If its what you want to do- go for it.
We are going for 2 weeks to Turkey. We havent had a nice relaxing holiday for over 6 years (7 by the time we go) so decided what we wanted in the holiday and after a lot of research went for Turkey.
Hollie- I wanted to go Eygpt aswell but it sounded way too hot July/August time so I may leave that for the following year when I want a lovely 30th birthday holiday!!:) I have never been to Alcudia but have been to another resort in Majorca and it is a lovely island.0 -
We are kind of swaying towards alcudia as like i say OH is not good with heat,he hates it infact and it is very hot there.im sure we will agree on somewhere lovely:)PinkPrincess83 wrote: »I think a cottage in wales sounds lovely. If its what you want to do- go for it.

We are hoping to go to Thailand about 6 months after the wedding. Depends how the savings look! Hopefully will go on a European break for a few days after the wedding just to have some time away
Be careful where you go in Egypt been once and never again! Hot but the food poisioning ruined it, everyone I know who has been has been ill either during or on the way home from there! I know that will be different for a lot of people, just my experience!0 -
We're thinking of America. I've never been and really want to go and DF really wants to go back, so we'll be trying for about 2 weeks and do a lot of travelling around. We figure, we're having a cheap wedding and out honeymoon will be the big blow out holiday we deserve!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170

We are only doing a mini-moon this year as by the time we decided we were getting married (4months ago) we couldn't get holiday time off. Going for a couple of days to Wiltshire and renting a lovely little cottage, just so we can have some time together and relax.
We are doing our proper honeymoon next year to Cornwall, to this Country Park place (I don't know the details as the OH has arranged it) for a week and a few days visiting his family in the Bournemouth area.Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0 -
Do what ever you like & what you can afford. If it's what you want to do then it will be special. As were getting married in Rhodes we will be having our honeymoon while we are there. We will be staying at the usual SC place in Pefkos & we have a lot of guests staying there too, so we have booked into a luxury hotel in Lindos for 3 nights so we can have some special time alone without our guests for a few days:DMarried the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.

For us it was a matter of what were our highest priorities. They were:
Being together (obviously)
Being relaxed
Being quite remote from other people
Good food
Nice booze
Being cosy and warm (it'll be December)
A bath (we live on a narrowboat so it's a real novelty!)
Being able to get there, even if it snows (December..)
We were not bothered about going abroad, because most of our holidays are abroad, and we're hoping to take a year off one day to travel the world - just not yet.
We've booked 2 nights in a hotel for our wedding night (that was an MSE weekly email BOGOF special!) and then, after Xmas, a week in one lovely cottage, 3 nights in a hotel, then a week in another lovely cottage. They both have real fires and big baths and nice big tellies, where we will watch DVD boxed sets and bank holiday telly to our hearts' content. And hopefully we won't get phone signal

We went to Wales on our honeymoon. We made a road trip of it. Started in Cardiff, then up through the Brecon Beacons, up to Snowdonia and finally ended up in a cottage with hot tub in a very remote part of North Wales!
The first part was quite hectic but having our last week in the cottage was bliss!
I would have loved to have gone somewhere long haul but we simply couldn't afford it after paying for the wedding too!0
