According to the 'notice to owner final reminder' letter I received states they have contacted the DVLA in order to obtain the details of the resgistered keeper (me).
- How is this cowboy company allowed to do this?
- Why would the DVLA give out my details to them?
- Any Advice?

1) It's a nice little earner
2) £2.50
3) Ignore
Unfortunately the DVLA can't tell them who the driver was - only you can - and you don't have to. So don't0 -
They got the registered keepers address because they paid the DVLA the sum of £2.50.
Carry on ignoring the clowns0 -
Is that really it, £2.50 to get my details? Shameful. They have my name and address now thanks to them. It just sounds unlawful to get my personal details to harass me. Now i have to get these letters from them with all my details..what a PITA.

There's lots about this scam and the DVLA involvement if you do a search or two:
Telegraph article from April
Watchdog article from April (scroll to the Private Parking heading)
QUOTE
Using the Freedom of Information Act, we've discovered that the DVLA sold nearly 1.1 million names and addresses to private parking companies last year. That brought in an estimated £3.4 million pounds...

And a poster on here told me last year that he had made several written enquiries with the DVLA compliance people about this rip-off and possible DPA breach - and when they first responded the DVLA actually thought that the registered keeper WAS responsible...! So you can see how this came about and the DVLA are no doubt hoping that Schedule4 of the Freedom Bill comes into play before they get found out. :mad:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Echoing the above, re: the DVLA's involvement with PPC's, it's a case of you rub my back, I'll rub yours. The DVLA make £2.50 pure profit when they flog our details to any old Tom, !!!!!! or Harry and the PPC's gain valuable information enabling them to hound innocent victims.
Unfortunately, it's a corrupt practice that is allowed to continue day-in, day-out. So the best thing to do is to ignore them.0 -
Has anybody actually requested their details with the DVLA NOT be shared with anybody else? I might phone them and see if they can mark my file.

Unfortunately they don't need your permission, so you cant actually withdraw permission to disclose information.
