Hi peeps
I honestly cannot believe the support from friends and family for my wedding! My future MIL is making the cake, OH's aunt is doing our invites, my aunt is doing the favours and my best friend is doing my hair and her hubby is taking the photos!
My cousin's OH is a DJ but we get that included in our package so he can come and enjoy the day
The one thing TOTALLY bites and I can't get my head round is wedding venues that charge like £4000 for the whole package - wedding, food, drink, disco, room and all that (not too bad really) but if you dare to get married in a church and just require the venue for the reception, they double the price!
Has anyone else encountered this? I feel like I'm being penalised for being a Christian...

About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him - and I didn't know how dominant that part might be - that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him. :A

Im having a church wedding and a posh hotel that does a package, were paying just under 2k for both altho the vicar has said he will discount the price more once he finds out how much the organist and flowers are as we dont want them,he already took £100 off what he quoted as we was shocked at the price and said we didnt expect to pay that.u need to haggle with venues if they dont have a set package0

The church is fine to be honest because it's my church and all I have to pay is the diocese fees luckily, I was just shocked at the venue's mentality.About three things I was absolutely positive. That is a hell of alot of money, shop around and haggle.we haggled with the first venue we seen, amazing what they can do if u tell them a white lie about another venue who have offered u a fab deal

were paying £1440 for 37 for a 3 course meal,70 for a buffet, the use of 3 rooms 1 for the wedding breakfast the other for the evening buffet as it has its own bar and the other room for the next morning for our guests and us to all have breakfast.it also includes arrival drinks and drinks to toast and of course out honeymoon suite and breakfast0 -
Sounds really good. We are not getting married till 4pm so just having the one lot of food. Found a venue that costs £2k for the food, welcome drinks, disco and room for the night which I think is pretty darn good. Only thing is it's not as pretty as some venues I've seen. My bro got married at the Hertfordshire Country Club and it was so beautiful. Mind you he did spend 3 times my budget!!!About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. You can make it look just as pretty if you are willing to put a little time into it.one lady on here had a sportshall she did back drops and lights and u wouldnt have known any different if she hadnt of said.stunning. and TBH who really take a huge amount of notice of the decor etc ive always took more notice of the bride and centre pieces lol0

True but I mainly meant the outside, for pictures and things. I love my church but it's next to the local shops so not a good place for photos either! LOLAbout three things I was absolutely positive. That seems like a lot of money!
I think the bill came to £2k for our venue. Included room hire, 3 course meal with all the trimmings for 75 adults and 10 kids. Canapes, Evening food for 120 people and corkage on 40 bottles of plonk at £6/bottle. If we had got married there it would have cost £200 extra to hire the ceremony room, plus the registrar fees. Church was £486 i think.
Disco would have been £250 but we upgraded to a band.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -
Ah Ok im not upto date with photographers and what magic they can work apart my FIL who is a professional but only does family and friends so he can work his magic on backgrounds, spots etc so im not stressing about any bad pics at the mo lol not sure if the person doing your pics has the programme to do that0

Sammy, sounds like a really good package! I don't understand this corkage thing, could you explain?About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire.
