The Warm Home Discount

Here is the one!!!!!!!!
The Warm Home Discount, confirmed as part of the recent Spending Review, will require energy companies by law to give a discount on energy bills to more of their most vulnerable customers.
The plan is for older, poorer pensioners to receive up to £130 off their electricity bills. Other groups such as low income families and those with long term illnesses and disabilities may also receive this discount.

But how does this affect the social tariffs?? if they remove the social tariffs and just give them a lump sum discount then some people could be worst off?
Or is this discount on top of social tariffs?
And what is the criteria for the Warm home discount as each supplier identifies there vunerable customers using varying techniques0 -

HiYa John,
Yes you do have to apply each year, because the ' passport ' criteria you used to qualify as you are aware can be adjusted or withdrawn at any time.
Your supplier .. .. SSE is different to SP in its delivery of their scheme although the total discount remains about the same. Yours seem to offer the £££ at the end of a term whereas SP apply it in advance pre-deducted from the monthly DD.
Nevertheless, good news for you and yours my friendDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
