Moving Gas Meter outside

Was looking at a kitchen but in order to install it I would need to get the gas meter moved outside. I am pretty confident it could just go the other side of the wall from where it is now, so nothing major.

I am with Equigas, so I rang Southern Electric who got me to ring someone else (Fulcrum i think they were called) who said I would be looking at £500 MINIMUM. ARRRRRRRG!

Anyone has similar done? If so what sort of money did you have to fork out?

Fulcrum are the subcontractors for the regional gas pipeline company (what was Transco until a few months ago), they don't work directly for your gas/ele supplier so they can't affect it or give any sort of discount.

There have been a couple of threads before with people having quite scary quotes for what seems to be very little work, unfortunately there isn't much you can do if you wan't the work done.

We have just had our meter moved as part of new extension and paid SGN £329 but they only move the meter, it required the service of a Corgi registered gas fitter to complete the move (at extra cost)
