  • Thanks for your messages, and yes I can see there has be alot of discussion on the topic, a topic that we all seems to feel aggrieved by the present stance that Insurance Companies and their underwriters take. Either individuals fight for a change in this unjust ruling or we accept it. To fight for a change would be exceedingly time consuming, frustrating and not to mention prohibitively expensive. The trouble is whilst there are many honest citizens, there are those that are not, and it is the honest ones who suffer under such rulings and the real perpetrators get away. I am increasingly coming to the opinion that the UK and legislation is not working for the people and in many ways unfair. There is little or no point in speaking out as no one listens or acts for the ordinary man on the street anymore.
  • I must admit I'm with vaio on this one. I have just had a renewal through for the car, then a week later someone hit me in my van at a roundabout, 100% no fault claim. My renewal on the car went up £100. I've told the insurance company that the subsequent loss is through no fault of my own and have now filed to claim. As I can prove this is the case and I am entitled to claim for any injury or losses for up to three years from the date of the accident. I have been informed to keep copies of renewals for all my vehicles for the next three years showing the difference in premiums.

They will then reclaim this from the third parties insurer.
    regards

you can recover up to six years although when I got mine it was only for 3 because I then moved to a company that didn't load for non-faults

    Who informed you this?

They are misleading you! As you will have read in this thread, this isn't an uninsured loss that can be reclaimed (normally - though in one poster's case he was fortunate - note that no-one else has come here to report any success).

And your renewals are highly likely to keep on increasing anyway!

Just shop around for the best deal at renewal - don't rely on merely sending off your renewal notices in 3 years time for a windfall!
