In dispute with Damart!

About 6 weeks ago I ordered 2 indentical items of clothing from Damart, after trying them on I sent them back as they were not suitable. The 2 items were sent back in the same bag they were delivered in. Got my statement a couple of weeks later where they had only refunded for 1 item. Phoned them and explained, they said they'd check with the warehouse, didn't hear anything so assumed they'd sorted it out.
Today I get another statement saying I owed them for 1 item + 55p arrears. Phoned them and they were most unhelpful, they asked if I'd got the proof of postage, which I don't as I thought it was all sorted as they had acknowledged they had received the parcel. Damart are still saying I only sent one item back and that without the proof of posting, which doesne't show how many items were in the parcel, they don't want to know. So they are saying it's my word against theirs. I asked to speak to someone senior, who may or may not phone me back tonight.
Anyone know where I stand? It's not a vast ammount of money £11.85, but why should I pay when it's not my fault?

Well I have another issue with DAMART, my elderly mother ordered 3 items but when they arrived they where not suitable and so she sent them back and waited the 28 days stated by DAMART for her refund. After this time my mother called them and got this response, "Oh yes we have had the items back and have sent you a cheque, we are very purprised that you have not had it. If you would like to hold I will order another cheque for you and will be sent right away!" Then the sound of a keyboard being tapped, "There! It's all done, you will get your cheque in a few days"
Two weeks later, nothing! Another phone and this was the response, "Oh yes I can see we have sent you replacement items" As my mother explained she does want replacement items and there are now 2 cheques in the post that have not arrived. "I will get a supervisor to call you" Three days later nothing!
Are they really just rying to con an 80 year old out of £90???0
