Shelia's Wheels - what a joke!

Been with Shelia for 2 years as been my cheapest option.

This year did my usual trawl of comparison sites to find Shelia still the cheapest and the quote coming out at 180 less than they offered me as a renewal.

Yet when I tried to follow it through the website mystically they could no longer insure me despite two of the comparison sites giving me similar quotes.

My next best deal was still 80 quid less than my renewal, called up Shelia spoke to call centre peeps who said "sorry we're not a price match company" when I then said well it means you'll lose my custom they seem unbothered! In what world does that work?

So cancelled the automatic renewal and went to next best option :T

45 minutes later call from different part of Shelia calls me to discuss my quote on confused.com would I be interested in taking it up? Apparently he can offer me a further discount

However when I said thats not what I was told by one of your colleagues regarding my renewal he rapidly back tracked and said sorry didn't realise you had a policy with us already. "Our existing customers can't get our best prices"

Fab they're modelling themselves on the banks :rotfl:

It works in most worlds. It may surprise you but most manufacturers and retailers prefer not to sell products at a loss.

The sales side often give a greater year one discount to non-customers as a loss leader.

    That is common sense.

They can use a model that assumes the customer will shop around every year, by putting their best prices on comparison sites, but reward loyalty with a penalty charge.
Let the policy lapse, and take out a new one through the comparison site.
I doubt it's making any loss, but you're know they are if they go bankrupt,
