Am i missing something?!
We're hoping to go to Thailand in June next year for our honeymoon, but on a lot of travel websites theres no option for travellng in June?!? It's the same in the 2 travel brouchures we recently picked, no option for June, but July is available...
Is it monsoon season or something? Or maybe they knew we were coming???? :rotfl:

I've been two years ago between end of June / beginning of July in Thailand...No problem at all...Also been several years ago (like 8 or 10 years ago...) in June...
It normally depends to what area in Thailand you go...in some areas is rain season at that time...0 -
We're looking at Phuket. Looking at the moment, it will cost us around £1000 ish for 2 weeks. If we leave it and book after Xmas/new year, do you think the price will go up or come down a bit more?:oGetting married 23rd June 2012!!:o0

Check the rainfall figures for where you are going as June is the rainy season in places. The seas around Phuket can be dangerous for swimming in the monsoon so do some research before you book.0

June is typically school holiday season in South East Asia so prices might be higher0

You really don't need a package holiday to to Thailand. Doing it DIY gives you much more flexibility and allows you to tailor a trip to perfectly suit your needs.
June wouldn't be my first choice for a month to go to Phuket but if you are happy dodging showers (and since you are on honeymoon there's plenty you can do indoors
) Take a look at http://www.phuket.com/island/weather.htm for climate information
Also, if you are looking at going away for 2 weeks then that's a lot of time to spend in Phuket. I'd look at spending 2-3 days in Bangkok, it's a crazy city but best experienced in small doses then head up north in the mountains (Chaing Rai or Mai) for a few days followed by a week in Phuket. On Phuket don't automatically book somewhere in Patong. It's the centre of the nightlife but maybe not the kind of "vibe" you are looking for on a honeymoon. Other areas on the island such as Karon and Kata are much more laid back. see (see http://phuket.sawadee.com/ for some ideas). Too many people think Patong = Phuket.0 -
saying that, when Ive been researching an up and coming holiday for next year, Kuoni have packages to certain hotels in Sri lanka including the flights + transfers for just marginally more than I can do "hotel only"
It really is worth researching BOTH DIY and package options0 -

I was out there in June just past, we booked our's DIY as we were travelling all over the place so it should be do able. If you do make it over check out some lens i wrote about my times there for things to do (see links below). Its an amazing place, i would reccommend tour with tong (google it) if you are looking for guided tours and are gonna be in bangkok they were very good and reasonably priced.

Yeah June would not be the best time to visit really, although the hotel prices drop by half. Dry season over Thailand is usually Nov, Dec -May depending on region...Best time would be mid April to take in Songkran...Thai New Year, the largest water festival on Earth....fanbloodytastic in every way, unforgettable.
I spent three months there and is fantastic when blue sky and turquoise sea, which you will want for pictures, but when it rains...it really does lol, but still scorching. Also, if in Phuket in June onwards, you may not get to travel over water due to high tides etc, (ie Koh Phi Phi or Railay) or boat trips may be reduced. You really have to jump on a boat and do the many day trips.
Then again. I stayed in Phuket til mid June and it was blistering and overcast with little rain. I kept in contact with a few Thai ladies when I came back to UK, (at least I think they were), and they said...now the rains have started.
Enjoy and try to learn basic Thai, they love you for it. Have a great Honeymoon.0
