Why do people prefer Walt Disney World to Disneyland?

I don't know why so many people seem to prefer Walt Disney World in Florida, when Disneyland in California is about the same price to get to, is the original, is the only Disney park built by Walt Disney himself, is nearby to Hollywood for Universal Studios etc....

Perhaps I'm missing something, but isn't Walt Disney World just a copycat of the original? Might as well go to the original!

I dont know why you think Walt built it lol

I am sure WD had a big hand in the designing of WDW , he was still alive when it was started

    Have you visited both?

    1) Florida is (or was) cheaper to get to
    2) 9 hour flight rather than 12 (a big deal with Kids)
    3) Florida Disney is larger than LA and then start adding in MGM - Epcot
    4) Universal studios in LA is cr*p compared to Universal in Orlando

I'm sure there are many more reasons but having been to both several times Florida really is a clear winner plus for a first timer to the US Florida is far easier to get to and far more laid back driving wise.

Having been to both, and Disneyland Paris a couple of times, there is no comparison. WDW is much larger and far superior to the other two.

From what I have heard, Walt thought there were a few things wrong with Disneyland, when you are on the rides there you can see the 'outside' world, Disneyworld is so large and the parks are so far into the overall area that you cannot see outside the magic! Disneyworld is like a separate country, it operates in conjunction with the surrounding area but effectively governing itself.

It is quite a magical place - but over the years the necessity to earn money has slightly spoiled it - in my opinion!

The climate in California is so much nicer. So humid in Florida - waiting in long queues in that humidity ruined it. California over Florida any day. I also enjoyed Paris one in crisp blue skies as whilst I love the sun being all hot & bothered whilst doing a theme park is awful! Obviously depends of time of year but Florida was my least favourite of the three!

I go to Florida in March and November. Longest time for a ride is half an hour and the temp is mids twentys.

I'm sure I have read that Disneyland can fit in WDW's parking lot. not sure if that is true and too lazy to google. but clearly the latter is much, much larger at least.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
